 “Songs for My Mother” is a collection of spiritual and gospel music chosen by my mother, Nancy Lower. Nancy was one of the biggest inspirations in my life, both musically and spiritually. In 1999, she was injured while working with the Peace Corps in Africa. The accident left her without the use of her arms and legs. After years of living with her disability, she asked me to make an album. As I worked on it, she spent many weeks in the hospital near death. I knew then that I needed to quickly dive into this project. One year later, I presented her with the final product. Having lived with quadriplegia for 20 years, with amazing optimism and faith, Nancy died in 2019.
